About Me

My name is Ashley Babcock, and I am an up-and-coming writer, a disability activist, and a “professional” patient from Eugene, Oregon. Since being diagnosed with several chronic disorders, including Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, life has been anything but easy for me – and it has been filled with a whirlwind of diagnoses, treatments, surgeries, and more.

Over the years, my chronic conditions and the many other challenges that I have faced have taught me that happiness isn’t something that happens to you, but something you choose. Being disabled – or single, or overweight, or struggling financially, or whatever – doesn’t make you any less valuable, and I am PASSIONATE that your life can be happy and fulfilling no matter what challenges you face.

I’m here to share with you my journey – the good, the bad, and the ugly – and how God has taken every ugly part of my life and, through His Grace, turned it into something beautiful. I also want to hear your story as well! In a world that’s full of perfect Instagram moments and smiling faces, I hope that this blog can bring some reality to the routine of your life. We all have challenges and weaknesses, and I truly believe that as we share this part of our lives that we can grow together and become stronger than we ever would be on our own.

Follow me on Facebook, Instagram, or at this blog so that we can build one another up and share our experiences together.
